Project Description

Sunset Surf & Turf

Sunset Surf & Turf is one of the few “bricks & mortar” independent stores left in the country.
Their priority is customer service.
If they haven’t got it, they will endeavour to get it in for you.
Their wide range of quality hand picked mens and womens street, casual, dress and surf wear products are not always found in the big chain stores.

My Work History With Sunset Surf & Turf:

Change The Website From PrestaShop to WordPress with WooCommerce:

The website at www.sunset27.co.nz was initially set up with PrestaShop (eCommerce Solution).
Research and discussions with Julie over past upgrading difficulties with PrestaShop resulted in her wanting to change over to WordPress and WooCommerce.

My Game Plan:

  1. Create WordPress development website.
  2. Purchase and install a WooCommerce Theme.
  3. Initial theme configuration.
  4. Import Products (data and images) into the development website from the live existing Prestashop website (with a purchased WordPress Plugin).
  5. Fix any Import issues that may arise.
  6. Create a new Homepage, Menu structure, Adverts and Slideshow.
  7. Revise and update text content.
  8. Add and configure the new eWay Payment Gateway.
As a result of changing banks, a new Merchant ID needed to be created with the new bank (Takes 2 to 3 weeks).
Initially the online shop to keep using PayPal until eWay is “live”.
  9. Test Payment Gateway.
  10. Delete old website and upload new website (late at night to when its less likely to affect customers)
  11. Testing – Make sure everything works.
  12. User training.

Note: After the upgrade, AfterPay Payment Gateway has been installed which has also helped increase sales.

Project Success:

Julie, Sunset Surf & Turf staff and regular customers all showed favourable feedback on the newer responsive browsing experience.
It did not take long at all to get to grips with the WordPress Admin Dashboard.

Every email campaign generates sales!
A new plan of attack (frequency and content) for the email campaigns will be revised.

Reasons for the increase in website traffic and sales:

  • Sending regular monthly emails to physical shop customers and website customers.
  • Facebook adverts
  • Regular Instagram postings
  • And of course – Friendly and Reliable Service with Great Products.
